IPAT @ WORK IN PALESTINE

IPAT sponsors projects across the globe, providing resources to help local communities protect, preserve and expand their artistic endeavours traditions.

JENIN

The Freedom Theatre aims to demonstrate a model of artistic excellence in theatre in Occupied Palestine and, using the creative process as a model for social change, provide opportunities for the children and youth of Jenin Refugee Camp to develop the skills, self-knowledge and confidence which can empower them to challenge present realities and take control of their future.

The Freedom Theatre is a community-based theatre and cultural centre based in the Jenin Refugee Camp and in Jenin City in the West Bank. This theatre project is working to develop the only professional venue for theatre and arts in the northern part of occupied Palestine.

The aim of this project is to enrich cultural life in the region, address the cultural isolation of the local community and empower the children and youth of the Jenin area by providing them with greater choice of cultural and artistic influences from other parts of the West Bank and beyond.
